Match Report – Norwood down the Dogs

NORWOOD has recorded its fourth win of Season 2021 after a convincing 32-point victory at Elizabeth on Saturday afternoon.

Forward, Cameron Shenton led the way for the Redlegs booting four goals with three coming in the first term, while promising forward Jackson Callow booted three crucial goals in tough conditions at the Ponderosa.

It was a rather disciplined performance by Norwood as the Dogs came out physical from the get-go.

The visitors were accurate in the first term kicking five goals straight to Centrals 2.5.

A 13-point quarter-time margin became 28 points at the main break with Richard Douglas kicking his first of the afternoon set up by Shenton.

Henry Nelligan then dished off the ball which allowed Brad McKenzie to let fly from 50 metres out before Callow was amongst the goals again executing his set shot on the stroke of halftime.

The Dogs drew first blood straight after the main break as Thomas Graham kicked his first. Despite Centrals early goal, Norwood matched them as Shenton kicked his fourth only minutes after before goal sneak Declan Hamilton made the most of his opportunity in front of the big sticks.

In tough conditions as the game ended, the Redlegs continued to impress as Nik Rokahr and Callow both kicked last quarter goals to ensure Norwood would all but walk away with a 32-point win.

Norwood finished plus 21 in tackles (90-54) and plus 36 in marks (90-54) highlighting their ability to pressure and then spread from contest to create inside 50 opportunities.
