Match Report – Norwood knock over Adelaide

NORWOOD has recorded its third win in succession defeating Adelaide by 48-points at The Parade on Saturday afternoon.

Despite kicking 12.20 (92) the win was set up by a Jackson Callow inspired performance as the Tasmanian kicked 3.7 in a fine all-round display.

The rejuvenated Legs kicked the first two goals of the contest through Callow before the Crows answered with three of their own courtesy of Elliott Himmelberg, Billy Frampton and Brayden Cook.

Defender turned forward Cameron Shenton made no mistake right on quarter time which saw the Redlegs trailing by a single point at the first change.

It was a five-goal-to-one second stanza that gave Norwood the impetus, with Nik Rokahr, Richard Douglas, Mitch Grigg and Jackson Callow instrumental in the second term that swung the momentum and gave the hosts a strong lead at the main break.

Norwood continued to dominate field position in the third quarter, yet only capitalised twice through Grigg and Rokahr with the Redlegs kicking 2.6 for the term.

The hosts were resolute in defence as Mac Bower was impressive in his first League game in two years matching up on Himmelberg, while Jack Heard, Jacob Collins and Isaac Saywell were up to the task facing an AFL inspired Crows team.

Junior Jacob Kennerley made the breakthrough for Norwood 11 minutes into the final term, before Shenton kicked his second to all but sew up the points for Norwood.

Callow finished with a remarkable tally of 3.7 from his 24 disposals and 11 marks to underline the talent he possesses.

Named the Coles Value Player of the Game, the strong marking forward had plenty of assistance further up the field from veterans Richard Douglas, Brad McKenzie and Mitch Grigg, who successfully returned to the League line-up to tally 23 disposals and a goal after a two-week stint in the seconds.

The Redlegs now turn their attention to the Eagles whom they face on Saturday afternoon at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval from 2:10pm.
