Mitch O’Neill will write the next chapter that is the story of Norwood’s famous number 14 guernsey.
Made famous by Norwood Hall of Fame Legend Garry McIntosh, who played 371 matches for Norwood including the 1982 and 1984 Premierships.
The new Norwood Midfielder O’Neill was handed the number 14 guernsey by the most previous wearer, 2022 SANFL Premiership captain Matthew Nunn, who played 109 matches for Norwood.
Three-time leading goal kicker Ron Brown (106 SANFL Games and 417 goals) and Brian Sawley (138 games) were others to play 100 matches in the guernsey.
Nunn said the guernsey had great significance to the club.
“When I was a young player and was handed the guernsey I was honoured,” he said.
“I knew the history of it with Macca (McIntosh), so it’s a huge part of the club.
“To hand it over to Mitch is special, he’s a gun so he will wear it with pride and do some damage in it.
“He’s hard going and has a real crack.”
