FOOTBALLERS AND NETBALLERS UNITE AS NEWTON JAGUARS ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE TO NORWOOD NETBALL CLUB
The Newton Jaguars Netball Club have officially changed its name to the Norwood Netball Club, announcing an affiliation with the Norwood Football Club.
This change reflects the Norwood Netball Club’s commitment to fostering a strong community spirit and enhancing player development within a unified sporting environment as part of the Norwood Football Club family.
The winter season will be the club’s final one in its traditional blue & gold uniform, with the Jaguars taking to the court under the Norwood banner, wearing the red and blue from the 2025 Summer Season.
The rebrand marks a new chapter for the netball club, which has a rich history of promoting the sport in the local area and developing players to elite levels.
This transition will allow the club to strengthen its existing ties to the Norwood Football Club and leverage shared resources and expertise to provide an even more enriching experience for players and supporters alike.
Norwood Netball Club president Michael Taylor said the intention was to become one of the state’s strongest clubs. Inclusive of all but tightly linked to the east.
“Becoming Norwood Netball Club is a thrilling evolution for our players, members and the community,” Taylor said.
“This rebranding not only aligns us with the Norwood Football Club but also sets the stage for increased collaboration, growth, and success in the years to come.”
Norwood Football CEO James Fantasia was excited by the partnership between the two clubs
“We are thrilled to officially welcome the Norwood Jaguars to the Norwood FC family. This relationship strengthens our commitment to the local community, creating pathways for young athletes and people to thrive across a range of sports,” he said.
And Netball SA CEO Bronwyn Klei said this initiative was an exciting opportunity for a historic South Australian netball club to revamp their brand.
“The Norwood Football Club has a rich history in South Australia and it’s great to see one of our long-standing clubs join this legacy,” Ms Klei said.
“The Newton Jaguars are a club that wants to get stronger and be more competitive which is amazing for the Premier League and netball in our state. I really applaud the club’s innovation and look forward to seeing the rebrand roll out.”
The Norwood Netball Club will continue to offer competitive and social netball opportunities for all ages and skill levels, ensuring that everyone can participate and enjoy the sport. The club is dedicated to promoting inclusivity, teamwork, and sportsmanship, values that will be at the forefront of its mission moving forward.
