Norwood announce 2023 SANFLW Coaches

NORWOOD has a host of new additions to its coaching panel for the 2023 SANFL Women’s season.

Guided by new Head Coach Brad Snell, the Norwood Football Club has made some notable changes and additions to its coaching structure.

Kelly Rossi will move into the League Senior Assistant’s role after an impressive first year in the Development League in 2022.

Jericho John has been promoted to the League’s Forward Line coach, in which he will utilise his extensive knowledge to improve on Norwood’s already potent attack from 2022.

Dan Hussey will take charge of the Midfield in 2023, after taking over from Brad Snell. Dan has a wealth of knowledge after applying his trade at Golden Grove across numerous years through both Juniors and Seniors.

Thomas Keller has joined the club and will guide the Defence; Thomas, a teacher at Wilderness School, has coached several School and Club teams across his coaching career. He brings with him innovation and new ideas to the role.

Brad Ferrall will join the club in an oppositions analysis role in which he will utilise his extensive coaching experience in the Adelaide Football League with Morphettville Park to provide expert opinion and insight into the opposition players and the competition.

Snell was pleased with the formation of his team saying, “Our 2023 Coaching Team brings a breadth of experience across coaching, sport, teaching and leading people. More pleasing is the wealth of experience the group has with leading and supporting the growth of females. We made a very conscious effort to recruit for this skill set and we are confident our players development will be fast-tracked because of this.”

Simon Butler will again headline the Development League Coaching Team and will be supported by a host of new coaches. Adam Grundy and Andrew Mittiga both join the club leading the forward and defensive lines.

In a new initiative, the recently retired Isabel Martin has signed on to be a development coach and will be mentored by Simon and shadow him in coaching the midfield.

The club has also made some additions to its support staff and welcomes Jess Gaffney, Alex Hinton, and Cameron Best to their respective roles.

Female Football Coordinator Ashleigh Young believes the coaching panel is well-experienced and has a diverse set of coaching skills.

“We’re thrilled to have Thomas, Brad, Adam and Andrew and all of our other Coaches and Support Staff on board with us for the upcoming season,” Young said.

“We have brought in a fair amount of experience and a broad range of skills in coaching but also high-performance, education and player welfare practices into our women’s program”.

“After just missing finals in 2022 we hope we can take our game to the next level this season and with the coaches we have, we are best positioned to achieve success.”
