Norwood has closed out the League’s first edition of Energised Round perfectly, with a big 40-point win over Glenelg.
The Norwood Football Club hosted all four SANFL Women’s matches at Coopers Stadium in a League-first initiative, and the Redlegs made the most of the “Gather Round” style format with a clinical win over the Bays.
It was a tight first quarter, with both sides booting one goal apiece, Norwood’s first coming off the boot of Steph Simmonds, who finished with two for the evening.
Norwood dominated the second term, but was costly in front of goal, booting 2.5 to 1.0 to go into half time leading by 13 points.
The Redlegs were outstanding after half time, starting with a three-unanswered-goal third term to put the game to bed by the final break, leading 6.8 to 2.2.
Again, Norwood couldn’t kick straight in front of goal, but it mattered little as the home side went on to record back to back wins.
Young gun Lani Cocks was again outstanding with 26 disposals, seven clearances, seven tackles and a goal in a best on ground performance. Jade Halfpenny led the way with 28 disposals and eight tackles.
The Redlegs are back on the road this weekend, with Enegrised Round heading to X Convenience Oval with Norwood taking on West Adelaide at 1:10pm on Saturday
