NORWOOD has fallen to reigning Premiers South Adelaide by 30-points on Saturday night at Flinders University Stadium.
After an inspiring first half which saw Norwood only two goals down at the main break, the Panthers kicked away in the second half thanks to four goals by Panthers forward Jess Kirk.
The Legs controlled the majority of possession in the opening quarter, however, couldn’t capitalise on their chances created.
Norwood Captain Ali Ferrall gave the visitors the perfect start in the second term crumbing the ball and kicking truly from 10 metres to give the Norwood fans something to cheer about.
Despite the Panthers quick response, it was impressive youngster Jade Halfpenny who was clever enough to go around the body to register Norwood’s second and put them back on level terms.
Norwood continued to press despite being able to gain any ascendancy on the scoreboard.
The Panthers class showed towards the end of the second quarter as Indy Tahau and Kelli Nijhuis kicked back to back goals to extend South’s lead to 11-points at the main break.
With everything to play for in the Premiership quarter, the Legs couldn’t stop a rampant Panthers outfit which saw them kick four goals to one to open a 29-point lead heading into the final stanza.
One positive was Norwood’s endeavour to continue to press which saw youngster Bella Smith kick her first goal of season 2020.
The last quarter saw Jo Hill kick her first goal of the night however it was all too late as the Panthers ran out 30-point winners.
Jade Halfpenny continued her good form for Norwood collecting a game-high 19 disposals and kicking a goal, while Matilda Zander collected 18 touches.
The Redlegs will now enjoy a week’s break before facing West Adelaide on March 14 at Flinders University Stadium.
