The Norwood Football Club would like to thank Sam Morris and Henry Nelligan, who will be departing the club this off-season.
Both Morris and Nelligan played in last month’s SANFL Grand Final, and the successful 2022 SANFL Premiership against North Adelaide.
Morris concludes his time at the Redlegs after 60 League matches, playing all 20 games in 2024.
Norwood coach Jade Rawlings said Morris had been an outstanding contributor for his side since his debut in 2021.
“Sam’s just an incredible competitor, a true Norwood person,” Rawlings said.
“He’s a maximal effort player, whether it was down back, in the midfield at times or as a forward – he just played his part for the club.
“He leaves the club with a lot of respect for how he’s gone about it as a player.”
Eyre Peninsula product, Nelligan departs the club with 55 matches under his belt between 2020 and 2024 (not playing any games in the 2023 season he spent travelling overseas).
Rawlings said the 22-year-old small forward Nelligan hit the ground running in his first senior preseason in 2021, having debuted in his U18 year in 2020.
“Henry was one of the few that’s been able to transition from U18s straight into senior footy in 2021,” Rawlings said.
“He’s a very consistent player, well respected and well liked throughout the group.
“He’s going to be a loss to Norwood.”
The club thanks Sam and Henry for their contribution to the senior program, and wishes them the best for the future. They informed the club that they are focussing on areas of life outside of football, including work and travel.
