Norwood name U18 Boys co-captains

The Norwood Football Club has named its U18 Boys leadership group ahead of Wednesday night’s Round 1 match at Norwood Oval.
James Annese and Harvey Pearce have been named co-captains, while Charlie Best, Thomas Gribben, Lachlan Smith, Fergus Myall, Kai Ivins, George Serocki and Will Tanner have been included in the leadership group.
Norwood U18 coach Alex Newell explained the co-captaincy decision.
“This is the first time we have gone with co-captains in my time as coach, but, it was the best way to go in 2026 as James Annese is out for half the season as he recovers from his ACL injury,” Newell said.
“Given that he’s not going to be out there for half the year, we have also named Harvey Pearce as co-captain, who is from our Eyre Peninsula zone.”
Newell said the boys would work well together.
“They are very different leaders. James is very professional, diligent and hard working, while Harvey might not be the most vocal person but the boys will follow him with the way he plays and goes about his footy,” he said.
“When you cross the white line, you want Harvey to be alongside you.”
Both the U18s and U16s have held their season launches at The Alma Hotel in recent weeks, with the U16s announcing their leadership group last night.
Tex Clark and Theo Poulton have been named as co-captains, while Zephyr Thompson, Kelani Fraser, Tyler Hitch, Will Viney and Zayd El Hosni are in the leadership group.
