Norwood record back to back wins

NORWOOD has recorded back to back wins for the first time in 2020, after defeating Woodville West-Torrens by seven points at the Parade.

The Redlegs defeated the Eagles in their first meeting in a thriller at Richmond, however, Norwood knew Woodville would be out for revenge this time around.

Redlegs forward Kate Fenton gave Norwood the perfect start 13 minutes into the first quarter when she received the ball and snapped on her favoured right to bounce the ball through the unguarded goals.

Although the Eagles kicked the first of the second term, the Redlegs continued to mount pressure on their opposition, which saw Alana Lishmund awarded a freekick from 30 metres out directly in front. Lishmund made no mistake to give Norwood a four-point lead early in the term.

The Legs kicked their second one-minute later as Jess Macolino read the flight of the ball to capitalise and kick her first goal for Norwood in 2020.

Norwood continued to control the game; however, Woodville had the momentum throughout the third term. The Eagles hit the lead 10 minutes into the Premiership quarter, however it was star midfielder Matilda Zander who responded in fantastic fashion kicking a goal from 35 metres out just on the siren.

Despite repeat entries in the final quarter, Norwood was not able to increase their lead as the Eagles defence stood tall.

The Legs saw out the game with full control to register their third win of 2020.
