Norwood selects Kirsty Lamb in SANFLW Mini-Draft

Norwood has selected Kirsty Lamb with the sixth pick in Tuesday’s 2024 SANFLW Mini Draft.

Lamb was traded to Port Adelaide’s AFLW side for the 2024 season, after 67 AFLW matches with the Western Bulldogs between 2017 and 2023.

The 29-year-old is an AFLW Premiership Player (2018), along with a long list of personal accolades, including an AFLW All-Australian selection (2022), Western Bulldogs Best and Fairest (2022), AFLPA Most Courageous Player (2022) and a VWFL Premiership (2012).

It is expected that Lamb and Sturt recruit Amy Boyle-Carr won’t be available for SANFLW selection until 2025 at the earliest while they remain based overseas and interstate in the AFLW off-season.

The SANFLW Mini-Draft is held when interstate AFLW-listed recruits need to be allocated to a SANFL club, with the order of draft selections based on the reverse ladder positions from the previous season.

Norwood Coach Brad Ferrall welcomed Lamb to the club.

“It’s exciting, she’s a very good player with a lot of AFLW experience,” he said.

“She’s a welcome addition to our SANFLW list when she’s available – hopefully Port can release her to play SANFLW and we can see her in a Norwood guernsey.”

Norwood’s SANFLW season gets underway in one month’s time on Friday, March 1 at Coopers Stadium, when the Redlegs take on reigning premiers Central District.
