NORWOOD is extremely pleased to announce the signing of 24-year old former Geelong VFL/Bell Park midfielder, Nik Rokahr.
Rokahr joins the Redlegs for the 2020 season after an outstanding 2019, which saw him finish as runner up best and fairest at Bell Park in the Geelong League.
In 2018 Rokahr had a career-best season which saw him take out a number of accolades including; starting midfielder in the 2018 Goulburn Valley team of the year, Morrison Medallist (League medal, Barry Conally Medallist (Player of the finals, league), 2018 Shepparton FC Best & Fairest, 2018 Shepparton FC Best finals player and 2018 Shepparton FC Premiership player.
The 24-year-old’s hard tackling and versatility will be a welcome addition to the Redlegs.
Rokahr can also play at either half-forward or half-back, giving Senior Coach Jarrod Cotton the option wherever he may see fit heading into pre-season 2020.
Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said Rokahr was a great fit for Norwood’s playing group.
“We are extremely delighted to welcome Nik to the Parade in 2020,” Ross said.
“He is a real competitor who is entering the prime of his career, and we are excited about what he can achieve in the coming years.
“Nik can play a variety of roles for us and as his CV shows, he gives us another dimension heading into the 2020 season.”
After an impressive 2019 campaign, Rokahr said he was keen to test himself in the SANFL and said he’s excited about Norwood’s list heading in 2020.
“The decision to come to South Australia was based on wanting to test myself in one of the best State League’s in Australia,” said Rokahr.
“Sitting down and speaking to Cotts and Rossy, they were both open and welcoming and gave me a sense of inclusiveness as a club.
“That’s something that really stood out and gave me a warm feeling, being part of a club with a strong culture.
“I hope to bring a number of skill-sets to the club, but in particular I hope to play a role and achieve the ultimate success of winning a Premiership in Season 2020.”
