Norwood’s David Gould inducted into Paralympic Hall of Fame

Norwood Football Club SANFL Wheelchair Coach David Gould was on Saturday night inducted into the Australia Paralympic Hall of Fame.

Gould received the award as part of the Paralympian of the Year Awards on the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Gould was recognised for his contribution to Australian Wheelchair Basketball, representing his country at five Paralympic Games in 1984, 1988, 1992, 1996 and 2000.

He won Gold for Australia at the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games, in Men’s Wheelchair Basketball.

Following his playing career, Gould went into coaching and led Australia’s Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team to Silver at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

More recently Gould transitioned into Wheelchair Football, representing Norwood since the SANFL Wheelchair Football competition’s inception in 2021.

Gould played for Norwood across the first three seasons, but in 2024 he took on an off-court role as head coach.

The Norwood Football Club admires Gould’s incredible career, and congratulates him on being inducted into the Australian Paralympic Hall of Fame.
