Player Announcement

Norwood’s Double Barry

The Norwood Football Club is pleased to announce the signings of former Power midfielder Dom Barry and former Southern District’s midfielder Dylan Barry.

Both Barry’s will head to the Parade after Norwood and the duo agreed to terms for the 2019/20 seasons.

Dom will cross over from Port Adelaide where he spent the 2018 season. Barry played five AFL games in 2018 along with 11 games for the Magpies averaging just over 20 disposals.

The former Glenelg product will add some real dash to the Norwood midfield and is a likely replacement for Triple Premiership Player, Ben Jefferies.

Barry’s ability to break the lines and use the ball well will complement the Redlegs forward line, in particular speedy forwards Anthony Wilson and Ed Smart.

The Redlegs also welcome Dom’s cousin Dylan Barry to the club in 2019. The 20-year-old Northern Territorian hails from Alice Springs and played for Southern Districts in the Northern Territory Football League.

Barry also played in the Central Australian Football League (CAFL) for Rovers. Barry had a strong 2018 campaign kicking 29 goals in 13 games to help his side win the 2018 Grand Final.

Dylan is a versatile player who can play in the midfield and up forward giving Coach Jarrod Cotton something to think about in 2019.

Norwood Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said the club was delighted with the acquisitions of both Dom and Dylan Barry.

“We are really pleased as a football club with the signings of both Dom and Dylan for the 2019 season,” said Ross.

“We were looking for some extra midfield run and carry and Dom certainly brings that with his experience at AFL and SANFL level.

“Dom runs the lines well he’s always creating and uses the ball really well by hand and foot.

“Dylan is a bit of a different mould to Dom, he is more of an inside midfielder who is tough can go forward and kick goals and provides plenty of grunt.

“We have had an eye on him for a couple of years and we think he will adjust well to SANFL football.

“But overall it’s really exciting for the football club and we look forward to their contributions in 2019.”
