Norwood’s Juniors campaign to conclude this weekend

Norwood’s U18 and U16 seasons will draw to a close this Saturday at Norwood Oval, with both sides out of finals contention.

The Redlegs U16s needed to go and get the job done at Noarlunga’s Magain Stadium in Round 17 to give themselves a live chance of making the finals for the first time since 2019, but it was South Adelaide which took the points with a 14.11-95 to 8.4-52 win.

It was a must win game for both clubs who went into the Round 17 clash a mathematical chance to making the top five.

On their home deck, it was the Panthers who got off to the fast start and never looked threatened.

South kicked the first three goals of the day, and maintained that lead until midway through the third term when they kicked away with four unanswered goals to get out to a match-high 48-point advantage.

Thomas Gribben was swung forward, and found two last quarter goals, but it would always be South’s day, running out 43-point winners.

Gribben had 29 disposals, three goals and five clearances, while Mason Tambe had 27 disposals and laid 12 tackles.
