Past Player of the Week – Gavin Hughes

Gavin Hughes joined Norwood after playing his junior football with the Modbury Football Club in the North Eastern Metro Junior Football Association (NEMJFA).

He played his first reserves game for Norwood in 2004, and made his league debut the following season. The speedy wingman with a penetrating kick was selected to play State football in 2006 but was a late withdrawal after falling ill on the morning of the match.

Hughes was drafted as a rookie by the Western Bulldogs at the end of 2006. He returned to Adelaide early in 2008 for personal reasons, without having played a senior game at AFL level.
