Norwood is excited to announce the new coach of its U16 Boys program, Peter Turner.
Turner heads to The Parade with experience across AFL, SANFL and local level football, most recently as the Senior Men’s Coach of Division 4 Club Hectorville for the past three seasons.
Originally from the North Adelaide Football Club, Turner went on to play five AFL matches for Carlton and Adelaide across 1994-1996.
Turner said he was excited to lead Norwood’s U16 program.
“I am extraordinarily excited,” he said.
“It’s an opportunity that came out of the blue, but it was something that I have been striving towards for a while, to improve my coaching.
“It’s an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up, to get into an elite football program was important to me in my coaching journey.
“I have been working with (Norwood U18 coach) Alex Newell all year on a Level 3 Coaching Course, so it’s good to build that connection and now take on this coaching job.”
Turner has coached at local level football for the last 10 seasons, across Junior and Senior levels.
Norwood’s U16 side won two matches in 2024, but showed a great level of improvement across the back half of the year.
“Results are one thing, but I am more keen to see improvement every week and ultimately produce footy players that can play at Senior level for Norwood,” he said.
“I want to get them to a point where they are capable of fitting into an U18 program and progressing further.”
Norwood’s U18 coach Alex Newell goes into his third season in the role.
