NORWOOD has completed it’s recruiting campaign for 2020 with the signing of former Mount Compass key forward Tom Pinyon.
Pinyon joins the Redlegs after a standout 2019 season where he kicked 129 goals in 21 games.
The 27-year old will add further depth to Norwood’s forward stocks and will assist recruit Codey Ellison and Luke Surman as targets inside 50.
Pinyon is also no stranger to League football after featuring for the Adelaide Crows development squad during season 2017.
The imposing forward played seven games kicking 14 goals, including two hauls of four against Sturt and Norwood.
Football Operations Manager Mark Ross said Pinyon had been on Norwood’s radar for a while and was delighted to have him sign for 2020.
“We have had our eye on Tom for the last couple of years,” Ross said.
“He’s a key forward who moves around the forward 50 and is capable of taking a strong mark as well as finish around goals.
“Not only will he give our midfielders a strong target up forward but will also provide assistance for Surman and Ellison.”
“As a club we are extremely pleased to have Tom on-board as he fits our needs, culture and values.”
Pinyon said that since arriving at the club everyone has been positive and has so far enjoyed his time spent with his new teammates.
“I’m super excited about putting pen to paper at Norwood in 2020,” Pinyon said.
“I wasn’t too sure what my movements were, initially the plan was just to come out to pre-season and then at Christmas decide.
But since being with the club, I love the feeling and culture it provides. The boys, coaches and trainers have been extremely welcoming to me and now I’m ready to get started and launch into 2020.”
