Norwood will host North Adelaide in tomorrow’s Anzac Day Hostplus SANFL League clash at Coopers Stadium.
As is tradition, the Anzac Day clash will also be the 2022 Grand Final rematch, while Norwood will also welcome players from the 2013 Premiership as part of a 10-year reunion from when the Redlegs defeated the Roosters by 40 points.
The League game will commence at 2:10pm, with an Anzac Day Ceremony to take place ahead of the first bounce. The gates will open at 11am, with the Reserves game starting at 11:20am.
Norwood’s SANFL side will be hoping that the 2013 Premiership players and supporters will have plenty to cheer about on the ground as the home side looks for its first win of 2023.
The Redlegs lost their first two games of the season to Woodville-West Torrens and Sturt prior to the Gather Round bye.
Norwood coach Jade Rawlings said his side had started “poorly”, but was hoping to turn it around on a “significant” Anzac Day occasion.
“I think playing on Anzac Day is significant,” he said.
“I love that the SANFL has this tradition that last year’s Grand Finalists get to play on this day – it’s a Tuesday Public Holiday, it’s going to be good weather – but the significance of this day and how our club recognises it (by awarding the Philip de Quetteville Robin Medal) is a big deal.
“We haven’t played anywhere near our full capacity this season, we have come up against two teams that were pretty sharp – we have had 19 days in between Rounds 2 and 3 so we have had the chance to re-calibrate and re-set ourselves, and it’s all before us.
“The season is a marathon, not a sprint but we need to get going.”
