Norwood heads to Noarlunga’s Flinders University Stadium this Sunday to take on South Adelaide for the first time this season.
The Redlegs welcome Xavier Tranfa, Brodie Carroll and Goy Lok into an extended line up for Sunday’s match, but are still without midfielder Mitch O’Neill who will miss at least another week with an ankle injury. This would have been O’Neill’s first outing against his former club, South Adelaide.
The Redlegs are also still missing Matt Ling, who has one game remaining on his three-match suspension. Tristan Binder will miss the Reserves clash due to suspension.
Key defender Tom Donnelly will play his 50th game in the red and blue. Donnelly’s been a crucial part of Norwood’s defense since arriving for the 2022 season, where he played in the club’s SANFL Premiership.
In 2024, he’s been given important roles on the opponent’s most dangerous forward, which he’s done to perfection on a number of occasions. Including, keeping Sturt’s Josh Hone to just three disposals in Round 1, and Crow Lachie Gollant eight disposals in Round 6.
South Adelaide struggled early in the season, but have recovered to win two of its last four matches. The Panthers currently sit eighth on the SANFL Ladder after 10 Rounds.
Norwood is on top with an 8-2 record, but just one win separates first and fifth in a close 2024 season.
The Redlegs claimed an important 83-point win against Port Adelaide last Sunday, following back to back losses to the Eagles and Sturt.
South Adelaide have plenty of weapons to look out for, with Hayden Simpson and Oliver Davis amongst the leading disposal winners in the competition.
Liam Fitt has kicked 18 goals this year for the Panthers, while Sam Skinner is another key player for South, amongst the leading contested markers in the League.
Cameron Taheny and Oliver Sanders both remain in the Reserves after returning from long term injuries last week.
The League game will kick off from 2:10pm, following the Reserves at 11:30am.
