Norwood will take on West Adelaide at Richmond’s Hisense Stadium in a First Nations Round clash this Saturday.
With both the Redlegs and Bloods sitting at 1-6 heading into this Round 8 contest, its a must win game for all involved.
The top five teams, Sturt, Central District, Glenelg, Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens have a nice gap on the competition, with the fifth placed Eagles three wins clear of sixth, and its now time for the sides in the lower portion of the ladder to make a move.
Norwood will be hoping this is the week, taking on the 10th placed Bloods.
The Redlegs have made two changes for the Round 8 clash, with Jayden Gale omitted, and captain Jacob Kennerley missing with a calf injury. Read the full injury report here.
Luke Surman has been named in the ruck, and will play his first League match of the season. He missed the first six weeks of the year with an ankle injury, and returned through the Reserves last week with a best on ground performance.
Oliver Sanders has been named in the forward pocket, while Jake Cresswell, Max Hodges and Isaac Saywell have been named on the extended bench.
Norwood’s form has improved over the past month, defeating South Adelaide by 30 points in Round 6, before narrowly going down to the second placed Bulldogs last Friday night.
The Redlegs also put in good performances against the fourth placed Crows and reigning premiers Glenelg in recent weeks, without getting the wins. Poor conversion in front of goal has cost the Redlegs throughout the season.
After facing the top six teams in the opening seven matches, Norwood take on three of the bottom four sides over the next five weeks in a crucial run of games.
It’s a Triple Header at Hisense Stadium on Saturday, with the Reserves kicking off from 10:30am, SANFL in an earlier 1:10pm slot, and the SANFLW from 4pm.
The Reserves will be aiming for back to back wins this Saturday, following a 22-point victory over Centrals last week.
