SANFL Wheelchair Football – Round 2 match report

Round two of the SANFL Wheelchair Football League saw Norwood up against last years premiers Sturt, with the Double Blues taking out a 26-point win.

Norwood started slowly and Sturt jumped out of the gates hard and quick, scoring the first four goals in the game.

After the first quarter the Redlegs re-grouped, worked hard and were able to match it with the Double Blues, winning the next two quarters to trail by 13 points at three quarter time.

The final quarter was a tough encounter until the last few minutes where Sturt was able to withstand the pressure and score four goals to put the game out of reach.

Coach David Gould said there were positives which came out of the game.

“We were able match it with the reigning premiers over last three quarters which shows great improvement within the team,” he said.

“It was a credit to all players who hit the court and played their role for the team.

“We are looking forward to our next game against the Eagles on June 16.”
