SANFLW: Legs fall to the Bays

NORWOOD will face off against West Adelaide this weekend for a chance to play in the 2021 SANFLW Grand Final.

The Redlegs on Saturday evening fell to Glenelg by 23-points in the Second Semi-Final, in what was a rather disappointing display in front of a healthy crowd at Coopers Stadium.

In what was a tough opening term, either side was able to mount any scoreboard pressure with Norwood trailing by two points at the first change.

After conceding the first goal of the game to Redleg Erika Sporn, the Bays hit back through Crows-listed Caitlin Gould five minutes before half-time.

Just three behinds were scored in the third term before the Tigers exploded in the final term, firstly through Meara Girvan who goaled less than three minutes after the final change.

Glenelg’s Caitlyn Swanson put the result beyond doubt when she opened a 17-point advantage with a clever checkside snap from 15m.

Glenelg goaled again in the dying stages to all but sure up a spot in the 2021 SANFLW Grand Final.

Veteran Leah Cutting battled hard for 16 disposals and six tackles while Najwa Allen collected 14 and six tackles as the Redlegs were forced to use their double chance in the major round.

Norwood will now turn their attention to this weekend when they face West Adelaide for a spot in the 2021 title decider.
