Norwood celebrated its Statewide Super Women’s League premiership with a convincing 59-point win against Woodville-West Torrens at ACH Group Stadium.
Keeping the Eagles without a goal until the opening minute of the third term, the Redlegs went on a scoring spree to tally 11.7 (73) with as many as seven goalscorers.
The Redlegs controlled majority of the play throughout the first term registering five scoring shots to zero. Defender turned forward Erika Sporn gave the Redlegs the perfect start in the tenth minute before Rosette Zerella made no mistake five minutes later.
Most of the damage was done in the second term, as the Redlegs piled on four more goals to the Eagles solitary point, to open a valuable 36-point lead at the main break.
With the minor premiership all but sealed, Norwood continued to press despite the Eagles kicking the opening goal of the third term courtesy of Marlie Flegert.
The response from Norwood was prompt, as Sporn and Zerella continued to impress up forward and by the end of the third term the lead had become a game-high 47-points.
Norwood finished with two goals in the final term thanks to Liz Drake and Erika Sporn as they finished up 59-point winners.
Despite losing the mark and tackle count, the Redlegs profited off Leah Cutting’s fantastic ruckwork as she led the way with 36 hit-outs and six tackles, while Sporn and Zerella booted three goals each for Norwood as Najwa Allen (19 disposals) and Elisha Gallagher (17 disposals) found plenty of the ball.
The Redlegs now turn their attention to Saturday’s second semi–final clash with Glenelg at Coopers Stadium from 4:15pm.
