Norwood recruit Mattea Breed has displayed her immense potential by earning the Round 2 Powerade Breakthrough Player nomination.
Tallying a game-high 21 disposals in the Redlegs’ dramatic win against the Eagles on Friday night, the 18-year-old showed great maturity despite it only being her second Statewide Super Women’s League game.
Breed stepped up to also register four clearances, five tackles and six inside 50 entries, with at least two of her direct passes by foot resulting in scoring opportunities for veteran team-mate Jo Hill.
Playing her first SANFLW season for the Redlegs, Breed is from the Northern Territory, having played in the NTFL with both the Darwin Buffaloes and Southern Districts.
The athletic teenager has also represented the NT Thunder and Central Allies at the AFL U18 Girls National Championships.
To be eligible for the SANFLW Powerade Breakthrough Player Award, players must be aged 21 and under at the start of the year and have played six games or less at the start of the season.
