Round 7 looms as another big match for Norwood’s SANFLW side as they head to Prospect Oval to take on North Adelaide this Sunday.
It’s a bright and early start on Mother’s Day for the Redlegs, with the game getting underway at 9:40am, prior to the North Adelaide V Sturt League and Reserves matches at Prospect.
After a tough start to the season, winning one of its first five matches, Norwood responded with a gritty win in Round 6 against last year’s Preliminary Finalists Glenelg (which have also struggled through the first part of 2025).
The Redlegs got the job done against the Tigers 2.7-19 to 1.2-8 in wet conditions at Glenelg Oval in Round 6, prior to the State Game bye last weekend.
Jade Halfpenny, Sarah Branford and Kiana Lee represented Norwood in the successful SANFLW V WAFLW game at Adelaide Oval last Saturday.
Playing across half back to start the 2025 season, the in-form Branford has been selected in the midfield, while Lee has been named at centre half forward, after spending a lot of time on the wing in 2024 and 2025.
Lee is Norwood’s leading goal kicker with seven majors.
Usual defender Emily Bartsch has also been named in the midfield, as the Redlegs hope to cover co-captain and midfielder Steph Simmonds who injured her hamstring in Round 6.
Sophie Arkun comes in for Simmonds, as the only change from last week’s win.
After a bottom of the ladder finish in 2024, North Adelaide has been much improved this season, winning three matches and sitting inside the top three.
Norwood defeated the Roosters back in Round 3, 3.5-23 to 3.1-19.
