The Norwood Football Club would like to thank Luke Surman and Xavier Tranfa, who will be departing the club this off-season.
Both Surman and Tranfa have played in premierships with the Redlegs throughout their SANFL careers.
Surman played in the 2022 SANFL Premiership, while Tranfa captained the Reserves to the 2024 Premiership last month.
The 196cm ruckman, Surman, was a Norwood Junior player, who after his U18 Season at the Redlegs was Drafted to Hawthorn in the 2015 Rookie Draft.
He returned to the SANFL following his time in the AFL, re-joining Norwood in 2018 where he went on to play 40 matches with Norwood and 13 with Port Adelaide.
The games with the Magpies took place between 2021 and 2022, returning to Norwood half-way through the 2022 season and going on to play in the Redlegs SANFL Premiership.
Norwood coach Jade Rawlings said Surman’s return to the club was timely in the Premiership run.
“Luke was a really important feature in the 2022 Premiership with the recruitment mid-way through the year,” Rawlings said.
“He wasn’t able to play as many games as he would have liked over the past two years, but saw out his time at Norwood right to the end, and was a great teammate during the 2024 finals campaign.”
Rawlings also thanked Tranfa, who played four of his 45 League matches in 2024, which included three goals in Round 5 at Prospect.
“Xavier has been really good club man over the past four years,” Rawlings said.
“Finishing with 40-odd games, he was always consistent in his effort. He gave everything he had during his time at the club.
“He’s certainly a popular member of the group.”
Tranfa was Runner Up in this year’s Reserves Best and Fairest award.
The club thanks Luke and Xavier for their contribution to the senior program, and wishes them all the best in the future.
