Tough night for Norwood Juniors

Norwood’s junior sides had a tough night at Thebarton Oval on Thursday, both sides going down to Sturt. 

The Redlegs suffered a 50-point loss in the U18 game, 16.10-106 to 9.2-56.

The damage was done early as the Double Blues slammed home the first six goal of the game.

From there the game evened up, but Norwood struggled to threaten the lead that Sturt built.

The margin was 35 points at the main break, and Sturt kicked eight goals to six in the second half to make sure of the result.

Ned Bowman was a shining light for Norwood with three goals, 15 disposals, five clearances and six tackles, while Daniel Thompson was the other multiple goal kicked for the Redlegs.

Jake Hill and Levi Johnston led the way with disposals with 22 apiece.

Norwood’s U16s also struggled against a strong Sturt line-up, going down by 116 points in Thebarton on Thursday. 

The Redlegs were in the game early, allowing the Double Blues just two goals in the first term, before Sturt slammed home six unanswered goals in the second quarter.

Sturt led by 53 points at half time and kicked 11 goals in the second half to blow the margin out.

Lachie Smith had 18 disposals and four tackles for Norwood, while Charlie Best had 16 disposals, 11 tackles and five clearances.
