Norwood has already improved its win tally from last year’s U16 season, with a strong 29-point win over Glenelg at Norwood Oval on Anzac Day.
The Redlegs managed just two wins from the 2024 season, and after just five matches in 2025 they have three victories against North Adelaide, Woodville-West Torrens and now the Tigers.
Norwood controlled proceedings for most of Friday’s 9.13-67 to 5.8-38 win.
The Redlegs started well, with a goal in the opening minute through Myles Carr, and a second through Ollie Easton six minutes later.
Norwood could have been further ahead with five shots on goal in the opening seven minutes, but in what has been the story of their season thus far inaccurate kicking let them down.
The Tigers fought back with two quick goals off the boot of Lucas Mounsey to make it a three-point game despite the Redlegs early dominance.
Flynn Gray kicked a goal from his third shot of the first quarter to make it a 10-point quarter time lead, 3.4-22 to 2.0-12.
The start of the second term went goal for goal, before Norwood nailed three majors in five minutes to make it a 25-point game.
Easton kicked his third goal just before half time and it was a handy 28-point buffer at the main break, 7.7-49 to 3.3-21.
The third quarter was tight, but Norwood managed to extend its lead to 31 points, which seemed enough, but Glenelg came with a rush in the final term.
In a frustrating fourth quarter for both sides, Glenelg kicked five consecutive behinds, while Norwood kicked three behinds in what turned out to be a goalless quarter, and a combined return of 0.8 between the Redlegs and Tigers.
This suited Norwood just fine, running out 29-point winners.
Easton finished with three goals from 27 disposals, while also having five clearances, seven tackles and 10 marks.
George Serocki finished with 29 disposals, Mason Tambe 27 touches and Kai Ivins 26.
Thomas Gribben was Norwood’s best with 24 disposals, seven disposals, seven tackles and seven rebound 50m.
