The Norwood Girls had a successful SANFL Youth Intrastate Carnival with the U14 and U16 teams both recording wins in 2 out of the 3 fixtures across the week finishing in 2nd place of both of their respective pools.
All girls represented the Norwood Football Club with pride and we look forward to the very bright future ahead for these girls.
As the season came to an end for most grades, we still had the State U/15 championships to be played over the first week of holidays. We welcomed our country side which is made up from the Eyre Peninsula and also had our Metro side ready to go.
The pool A side of the draw consisted of Norwood, Sturt, Central Districts and North Adelaide.
The Metro side finished equal top but fell to second due to percentage in their division with 2 wins and 1 loss. This included 2 very strong wins over Sturt and North Adelaide. We used 32 players over the carnival and are really excited about our U16 squad going into 2023.
The country side had 1 win and 2 losses, they lost game 1 in terrible conditions by 4 points. They finished off the carnival beating a very strong North Adelaide on the last day in a very entertaining game. Centrals won all 3 games and the other teams all finished on equal points.
A highlight of the week was welcoming back Cooper Murley, Alastair Lord and Jackson Callow from their AFL clubs to speak to the players and their experiences from their last 12 months.
The future looks very bright with the talent that is coming through both our metro and country regions.
