VALE Glen McMahon

27/02/1937 to 22/01/2024

The Norwood Football Club expresses profound sadness at the loss of Glen McMahon.

Glen was an exceptional individual, whose dedication as both a player and senior administrator of the Norwood Football Club will forever be etched in our memories.

His noteworthy journey included 115 matches for the Norwood Football Club from 1958 to 1964.

Following his playing career, Glen transitioned seamlessly into a pivotal role within the Club, serving on Norwood’s Management Committee and subsequently taking on the position of Club President from 1974 to 1981.

In total, he dedicated 23 years to the Norwood Football Club and was honoured with Life Membership in 1975.

In addition to his contributions to the Football Club, Glen excelled in his professional endeavours. In 1957, he, along with his wife Barbara, established the G.F. McMahon Transport company, now known as McMahon Services and managed by his sons, David and Andrew McMahon.

In 2022, Glen McMahon shared the story of his life in the book titled “The Many Lives of a Self-Made Man”.

Before his passing, Glen was informed of the Club’s plan to honour his significant contributions by naming the players’ race “The Glen McMahon Race”. We consider ourselves privileged to have had the support and guidance of such a gentleman.

Glen’s legacy will undoubtedly endure in the hearts and history of the Norwood Football Club.

We extend our warmest condolences to Barbara, David, Andrew, Alison and the entire family.
