The Norwood Football Club extends its sincere sympathies along with our thoughts and prayers to the Smith family after the sad passing of former Norwood player and underage coach and club stalwart, Malcolm Smith.
Malcolm spent a great deal of his life at our wonderful club. Malcolm represented the Club in 1956 at League level and then coached at all junior levels in the 70’s & 80s. A U/19 premiership coach, Malcolm was a strong influence on many young players that went on to play league football with distinction. The likes of Michael Taylor, Ugo Colasante, Tom Warhurst and Keith Thomas to name a few. Malcolm coached the Under 17s from 1971-73, then went onto the Under 19s in 1974,75,76 and then from 1979-1982.
Malcolm was very well respected by all players, coaches, staff and volunteers; he had an amazing football brain with a balanced view on everything from life to his football observations.
Malcolm will be missed by all who were touched by his care.
Vale Malcolm Smith.
