Vale Nerio Ferraro

The Norwood Football Club extends its sincere sympathies along with our thoughts and prayers to the family of Nerio Ferraro.

Mr Ferraro was a significant Norwood man, who lived in the local eastern suburbs of Adelaide.

His first official involvement with the Norwood Football Club commenced in the 1970’s where he was involved heavily with the NFC Vice-Presidents and supporters’ groups.

In 1981, Nerio joined the Board and in that year was elected Deputy Chair.

Nerio, was a long-term President of the Norwood Football Club which expanded from 1982 to 1995. Within this time, the club secured two Premierships and Nerio forged a strong partnership with Wally Miller OAM and Bob Farnham.

In 1989 Nerio was awarded Life Membership at the Norwood Football Club, which epitomised his undivided commitment and love for the red and blue.

In 1982 he was persuaded to put his name forward as a SANFL Director and League Commissioner and duly elected and served in this role until 1995.

Nerio continued his involvement with the Norwood Football Club well beyond his period as President. A member of the Presidents men coterie group and sponsor, Nerio always continued to support the club. He was highly regarded by the Norwood fraternity and will always be remembered for his passion, commitment and love of the Norwood Football Club.

The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Ferraro family.

Vale, Nerio.
