Vardanega to Debut

NORWOOD will blood a sixth debutant tomorrow at Elizabeth, with wingman Matt Vardanega set to make his League debut.

The son of 1984 Premiership player Glen, Matt will replace star forward Paul Puopolo who will miss the clash due to injury.

Vardanega signed with Norwood in December 2020 and made an immediate impact playing a hard-working wingman for the Reserves.

The 22-year-old is averaging 19.2 disposals in the Reserves going at 82% efficiency in his opening five games.

“Matt has been fantastic since arriving at the club late last year,” Football Services Manager Rob Harding said.

“He understands the game well and has been working incredibly hard alongside fellow wingman Brad McKenzie, who has mentored him throughout the summer.

“Matt deserves an opportunity, and we look forward to seeing him make his debut tomorrow afternoon.”
