Will Rowlands drafted to the Gold Coast Suns

Norwood’s Will Rowlands has been selected by the Gold Coast Suns with Pick 18 in the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft. 

From the Southern Districts Football Club in Darwin, Rowlands has been a member of Norwood’s junior program since U16s while attending Rostrevor College.

Rowlands played 10 U18 games for Norwood in 2023, averaging 19 disposals, three clearances and three tackles per game. He booted 17 goals in the red and blue this year.

The 179cm midfield-forward played two games for the Allies in the 2023 U18 National Championships before injuring his shoulder.

He also played two games with the NT Thunder in the Coates Talent League this season where he was named best on ground on both occasions, averaging 21.5 disposals and 5.5 clearances.

Rowlands was selected with Gold Coast’s second pick in Wednesday’s Rookie Draft, with Rounds 1 and 2 of the AFL Draft taking place on Monday and Tuesday.
