Youngsters given the chance to shine

NORWOOD has promoted several young guns to train with the senior squad this preseason.

After last years success which saw the Under 18s run out eventual Premiers, Senior Coach Jade Rawlings took no time in ensuring the current group of young players are getting the exposure and experience that comes with playing senior football.

In 2020 we saw glimpses of consistent defender Daniel Fairbrother and midfielder/forward Henry Nelligan; however, this season expect several players to be pushing to play both League and Reserves football.

14 players are currently training within the Senior set up, which Rawlings describes as refreshing with their desire and hunger to improve a fantastic sign.

“The players just want to get better,” said Rawlings.

“Their attitude and commitment to the senior program has been excellent and it translates on the field in the way they are training.

“I expect a number of these players to be pushing for selection at either Reserve or Senior level.”

Norwood will look to provide experience to these young players coming through, which will no doubt give the fans plenty of excitement and optimism.
