The Norwood Football Club has named a seven-man Leadership Group for 2023, with Matthew Nunn named as Captain for a third season.
Nunn will Captain the side alongside Vice Captain Jacob Kennerley, while Matthew Panos, Declan Hamilton, Nik Rokahr, Harry Boyd and Jack Heard also form part of the Group.
There is only one change from last year’s Leaders, with Mitch Wilkins stepping down from the Leadership Group and J. Heard taking his place.
Senior Coach Jade Rawlings announced the Leadership Group to the playing group last night.
“I congratulate Matt Nunn for being named Captain,” Rawlings said.
“We have maintained a lot of stability in our Leadership Group, which is important.
“Matt, Dec, Nik, Harry, Jacob and Panos have been unbelievable leaders over the past 12 months, and Matt’s influence over this group is significant.
“Jacob is Vice Captain and his support of Nunny is unconditional, he took over as Captain last year when Nunny sustained a long-term injury and excepted that position willfully.
“How they (Kennerley and Nunn) supported each other last year was one of my real proud moments.”
Nunn – who has played 91 League games for the Redlegs – led the side to the 2022 SANFL Premiership win.
“Thanks to Twig (Coach, Jade Rawlings) for repaying the faith in me, this is a very honourable position and every year it is up for grabs,” Nunn said to the playing group last night.
“I try to do everything right to make sure that I continue to be a good Captain, I love you boys so much and I hope you feel that.
“I want to have that good relationship with everyone, but have that ability on the field to make sure people stand up when we need them.
“I am grateful to be in this position again, and for the Coaching Staff and the Board to have faith in me is great.”
Norwood’s SANFL Season gets underway on March 31 against Woodville-West Torrens at Coopers Stadium.
