Sturt too good for Norwood juniors

Sturt claimed strong wins over Norwood in both the U18 and U16 matches at Unley Oval on Good Friday.

Norwood’s U18s battled hard in the first term, before eventually going down by 52 points against a strong Double Blues side, 13.7-95 to 6.7-43.

Noah Daw was a shining light for the Redlegs, gathering 29 disposals and taking 10 marks in defence.

Sam Ainsworth had 21 touches, six clearances, six marks and winning 32 hitouts.

Norwood trailed by three goals at quarter time, but were held goalless in the second term as Sturt continued to build the lead throughout the second and third quarters.

Ealier in the day Sturt claimed a 39-point lead over Norwood in the U16s match.

Both sides were inaccurate in the 9.12-66 to 3.9-27 result.

The Double Blues looked the better side for most of the day, kicking the first four goals of the match.

Norwood just couldn’t eat into the deficit due to its woes in front of goal, and at three quarter time it was 7.9-51 to 1.6-12 following a 2.4 to 0.4 third term.

Sturt had the three highest disposal winners on the ground in Taj Garrett’s 39, Mitch Brook 29 and Jacob Westley 26, while Thomas Gribben and Kai Ivins both had 23 for the Redlegs.
