Norwood drop first game of the season

Norwood 9.2-56 def by CD 16.5-101

Norwood had lost its first match of the SANFL Wheelchair Football League season, going down to Central District by 45 points.

The Redlegs had started the season on fire with wins against reigning premiers Woodville-West Torrens and West Adelaide, but were stopped in their tracks by the Bulldogs on Friday night.

Centrals scored six goals in the first quarter, and Norwood was playing catch up from there.

Both sides scored four goals in the second term, and it was six goals to four after half time, but Norwood was never able to put proper scoreboard pressure on the Bulldogs.

Norwood has a marquee match this Friday night at the ARC Community and Sports Centre, which is the club’s first home game, in what is a new initiative by the SANFL.

Each side gets one home game in its metro region, with Norwood’s taking place at the Campbelltown-based sports centre this Friday night, from 7:55pm on July 10.
