In the Mix – Round 4

The Legs were dealt a double blow in round 3 with Michael Talia and Luke Surman both succumbing to bad hamstring injuries in the first quarter of Sunday’s match. It is anticipated Talia will miss between 6-7 weeks whilst Surman is listed as indefinite at this early stage.

Defenders, midfielders, and prospective debutants are all in the mix for Saturday’s clash against the Dogs at Coopers Stadium, which now shapes as a must-win for the red and blue.

Defender Jack Heard could play his first League game for Norwood in 2020. Heard has been a consistent performer in the Reserves and could be a potential replacement for Talia down back.

Key defender Tyler Martin could also be in the selection frame to replace Michael Talia. Martin’s ability to defend strongly and use the ball well could be just what senior coach Jarrod Cotton requires to strengthen his back six.

If inside grunt is what the Legs are after, Jed Spence firms as the ideal candidate.

The 2019 Reserves Magarey Medallist has been consistent throughout the Reserves first three games and is inching towards his first senior appearance for the Norwood Football Club.

After being named as an emergency last week, Isaac Saywell’s name once again comes into consideration at the selection table. Saywell was an admirable performer in the Reserves last weekend and could be used in any number of positions.

Running half-back Jacob Collins is another strong candidate to slot into the Redlegs back six. Collins is a very talented player who possesses a thumping kick and no doubt would provide plenty of creativity & drive from half-back.

The Redlegs face Central District on Saturday afternoon at Coopers Stadium with the first bounce commencing at 2:10pm.
