Norwood sign VFL duo

NORWOOD is pleased to announce the signing of 20-year-old key forward Kobe Tozer and small forward Cory Stockdale for the 2022 SANFL Season.

A key forward and one of the most talented Under 16 prospects in the land a couple of years ago, Tozer has struggled with injury for the past few seasons, however, is now fit and firing joining the Norwood Football Club from Aspley Hornets.

The 20-year-old stands at 195cm and will look to develop his craft alongside fellow recruit from Central District Connor McLean.

In 2021 Tozer played four games for the Sherwood Districts Football Club, where he kicked eight goals.

Football Services Manager, Rob Harding said that despite injury concerns over the past few seasons the club is excited to be working with Tozer in 2022.

“It’s fantastic to bring a player like Kobe Tozer into our football club,” said Harding.

“Kobe was on Aspley’s list in the VFL this year, he is a former member of the Brisbane Lions Academy and is a big strapping key forward.

“He has had a few injury problems in recent years; however, we are looking forward to getting him into our program and giving him the best opportunity to play his best footy as he moves over from Queensland.

“As a club, we are really excited for what Kobe can bring and welcome him and his family to The Parade in 2022.”

Tozer explained his decision to join Norwood was a combination of a fresh start, whilst wanting to play in one of the biggest local leagues in Australia.

“It’s a great time to join the Norwood Football Club,” said Tozer.

“I wanted to join the Redlegs for a change of scenery after playing all of my football up in Brisbane.

“I’ve heard the competition in South Australia is fantastic and I want to make the most of my opportunity at a young age.”

The Redlegs have also landed tough utility Cory Stockdale from the Casey Demons in the VFL.

A reliable and hardworking player, Stockdale’s versatility is one of his biggest strengths which can see him play both up forward and down back.

The 24-year-old also has strong ties with now Senior Coach Jade Rawlings after spending time together at Casey in 2018 and 2019.

“Cory was previously coached by Twig (Jade Rawlings) at Casey,” said Harding.

“He joins us from the Casey VFL program and has joined Norwood for more opportunity, with it proving difficult for playing time with Melbourne’s relatively clean bill of health in 2021.

“Cory crosses over from Victoria and gets an opportunity to play as either a half-forward or half-back.

“He is super competitive, super aggressive and our fans are really going to love watching him play in the red and blue.”

After putting pen to paper, Stockdale said he is looking forward to meeting his new coaches and teammates at the Norwood Football Club in 2022.

“I’m really excited to be playing with Norwood and in particular Coached under Twig ‘Jade Rawlings’ again,” said Stockdale.

“It’s a big move from Victoria, but I am really looking forward to settling in and meeting all my new teammates and coaches.

“As a youngster, I always wanted to play in either the SANFL or the WAFL and after a couple of interrupted years playing in Victoria, I thought to myself this was the best time to
