Norwood has recorded back to back wins for the first time in 2019 after defeating 2018 Premiers South Adelaide by 12-points at the Parade on Friday night.

The two sides played out another physical affair as the contest was quite congested in the early stages.

Scoring shots proved hard to come by as South made the break through on the stroke of quarter time.

Norwood dominated the majority of the second term with repeat inside 50 entries; however it was South’s numbers in defence which didn’t allow Norwood a first major of the evening.

The Redlegs finally made the break through as Hannah Dunn broke from stoppage to kick a long range goal as the two sides headed to the major break deadlocked at eight points apiece.

Despite the score being low, the Lady Legs controlled most of the play being plus 13 in inside 50’s (22-9).

South started off the third term well on top as Jess Kirk kicked truly handing the Panthers the lead back.

The South goal however reinvigorated the Lady Legs as in from midfielder Najwa Allen wheeled around on the right to put Norwood back into the contest.

Allen was at it again four minutes after as she kicked her second in a row bringing the Norwood crowd into life and a belief of confidence.

Ex-Crow Monique Hollick then three minutes after strolled in from point blank range to give the Redlegs a priceless 13-point advantage heading into the final stanza.

Young forward Indy Tahau gave South hope, with her first career goal cutting the lead to five with 10 minutes to play.

Norwood held strong as they withstood a number of attacks from the 2018 Premiers.

The game was put beyond doubt in the final stages as former Panther Bree Liebhardt shrugged off a tackle to all but seal Norwood’s first ever win against the Panthers.

Former Eastlake gun Allen was again influential for Norwood collecting a game high 24-disposals along with two majors, while Dunn wasn’t far behind with 17 touches and one goal.

Monique Hollick after a quiet game against North was back to her best, with her line breaking ability proving difficult for the Panthers.

The Lady Legs host Sturt FC in Round 4 at Coopers Stadium this Friday night at 7:45pm.
