The Redlegs Reserves claimed their first win of 2018, upstaging South Adelaide by one-point in a nail biter at the Parade.

In a game where neither side was able to stamp their authority on the contest, Harry Viney’s goal late in the final term was enough to secure the points for the reserves.

Norwood went into the match with a couple of big names on show with new recruit Josh Glenn playing his first game for the Red and Blue and former North Melbourne midfielder Brad McKenzie returning from injury.

Glenn played the full game for Norwood and was dangerous throughout the match. He amassed 22 disposals and kicked one goal and three behinds, while McKenzie had a team high 25 disposals rotating time between midfield and defence.

Alex Forster and Zac Richards were also impressive and will give Senior Coach Jarrod Cotton something to think about when it comes to selection this weekend.

Patrick Levicki also had a solid game in defence playing at full back. Levicki had 17 touches which included five marks and a goal.

Forward Daniel Johnston was also amongst Norwood’s best performers, with the former Murray Bushranger forward booting three goals.

In what was a different side that faced Sturt in Round One, the reserves controlled the match at times and were efficient in their ball use generating more inside 50’s (45-40) and controlling the ball with more marks than the Panthers (79-54).

Youngster Cole Gerloff was also impressive for Norwood. The 19 year old was a work horse for Norwood collecting 20 disposals as well as impacting on the contest with eight tackles and a goal.

The Norwood reserves found a way to hold onto the match, winning by a solitary point in what was a tough game of football.

The reserves will face Glenelg this Saturday at 1:30pm at Gliderol Stadium.
