Norwood will host South Adelaide at Coopers Stadium in Round 17, as the Redlegs look to get back on the winners list with pressure mounting at the top of the SANFL Ladder.
The Redlegs went down to Glenelg by 34 points in their Round 16 match before the Bye, but had won their previous five games to establish top position on the SANFL Ladder with just three home and away matches to come.
By dropping the game to the third placed Tigers, it allowed the in-form Sturt back into top place contention, with the Double Blues moving to just 0.2% behind the Redlegs as both sides are enjoying a 12-3 win-loss record.
Norwood will be keen to topple the ninth-placed Panthers at The Parade on Saturday, but it won’t be easy with South winning its last two matches against West Adelaide and Port Adelaide prior to the Bye.
Following the South match, Norwood’s run home includes North Adelaide at Coopers Stadium, and a final round match against Woodville-West Torrens (which has now been scheduled for Saturday, August 24 at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval).
Norwood last faced South Adelaide only five matches ago, in Round 12, when the Redlegs travelled down to Noarlunga and secured a runaway 39-point win. Norwood led by seven points at the final change before kicking five unanswered goals in the last quarter to claim a 9.16-70 to 4.7-31 win.
For this Saturday’s Round 17 clash, Norwood has recalled Mitch Carroll and Henry Nelligan from injury, while Ben Simpson, Tristan Binder and Alex van Wyk have been included in the extended squad.
Small forward Nelligan has missed the last six games with an ankle injury suffered against Sturt in Round 9, while M. Carroll has missed the last two matches, also with an ankle injury.
Dom White is out after suffering a shoulder injury in Round 16, while Finn Heard is also out with an ankle injury.
It will be a big day at The Parade on Saturday, as Norwood celebrates Eyre Peninsula Round. Round 17 is sponsored by Paradise Mazda.
