Norwood heads down to Noarlunga’s Magain Stadium this Sunday to take on South Adelaide, eyeing a ninth-straight win.
The 8-2 Redlegs last played the Panthers in Round 3 at Coopers Stadium, and came into that match under a very different circumstances… looking for their first victory of the season.
Norwood was good enough to secure the 22-point win under lights at The Parade, which got its season rolling at 1-2, and haven’t stumbled since.
The Redlegs now have a favourable injury list, and lots of selection decisions for Senior Coach Jade Sheedy. who have named an unchanged squad of 25 – including Dan Gauci, Noah Daw and Josh Murphy on the extended bench
“It is testing but it’s good,” Sheedy told The Redlegs Review Podcast this week. “We give the players a lot of feedback throughout the week, so we feel that all we can do is keep improving as a whole footy club.
“We have got some outstanding juniors coming through and it’s important to keep them engaged and they are playing really strong footy together and that Reserves game last weekend was as good as I’ve seen for a long time around how they’re playing and what we’re valuing.
“I think if you watch our Reserves side play there is a clear understanding of how both grades are trying to play and we train hard together and value the same things as a club and that is coming out in both grades.”
Norwood has named an unchanged squad of 25, including Dan Gauci, Noah Daw and Josh Murphy on the extended bench.
Cooper Murley and Alastair Lord play their 50th SANFL matches on Sunday, while Amelia Rusden plays game 50 in the SANFL Women’s competition when they take on the Eagles at Woodville.
The Reserves are also aiming for nine consecutive wins on Sunday, in a top of the table clash against South Adelaide.
Luke Surman will play his first game of the year in the Reserves, while Marco D’Annunzio (who missed last week with a finger injury), Oscar Hodge and Henry Holdom also come into the side.
The likes of Mitch O’Neill, Tom McCallum, Matthew Harms, Oliver Sanders are all playing Reserves on Sunday.
