Norwood has won its last three matches and risen to third on the SANFL Women’s ladder, following a thumping 54-point victory over Glenelg on Saturday evening.

It was a fifth consecutive away game for Norwood, who travelled to Glenelg’s Stratarama Stadium on Saturday, but it didn’t worry the Redlegs who kicked the first nine goals of the match.

Glenelg was no match for the Redlegs, led once again by captain Jade Halfpenny who starred with 25 disposals, nine tackles and five clearances, alongside her partner in crime Lani Cocks, who had 22 touches, two goals, 10 tackles and four clearances.

It was a demolition job from the first bounce, with Mykaela Walker slotting Norwood’s first goal within the opening minute.

Glenelg did manage the next three scoring shots, all behinds, but from there it was all the Redlegs, who kicked six first quarter goals. The last five goals of the first term came in a hurry, with Sophie Arkun, Lana Schwerdt, Coby Morgan’s two and Walker’s second taking place within 12 minutes.

At 35 points the margin at quarter time, the game was over, but it wasn’t enough for the hungry Redlegs who booted another early in the second term through Amalie Innes.

At half time, Norwood led 7.2-44 to 0.4-4.

In the second half, the Redlegs added another four goals to Glenelg’s two (both coming in the final term).

The Redlegs have a bye this weekend, before hosting Central District at Coopers Stadium on Sunday, July 19.
