Norwood’s U18s are back in the finals race, following back to back wins which puts them just half a win outside the top four.
After four losses on the trot, and one win since Round 4, the Redlegs were bottom of the ladder after Round 11. But, big scalps against third placed South Adelaide and fourth placed Glenelg has got the Redlegs back in the hunt for September.
On Saturday at Norwood Oval, the home side secured a 19-point win over the Tigers, which puts the Redlegs (despite sitting seventh) just one premiership point away from the fourth placed Sturt.
The Redlegs started well, kicking three goals to two in the opening term. Another two unanswered goals to the hosts in the second quarter got the margin out to a match-high 20 points.
Glenelg dominated the third quarter with three unanswered goals to take the lead just before three quarter time.
Charlie Best goaled just before the break to help the Redlegs to a five-point lead.
Glenelg returned to the lead with a goal in the first three minutes of the final quarter to reclaim the one-point advantage, before Norwood controlled the remainder of the match.
Goals to Tom Waugh, Sachin Tyrrell and Ollie Easton helped the Redlegs secure the 10.8-68 to 7.7-49 win.
Earlier in the day, Norwood struggled against the top of the ladder Glenelg in the U16s, going down by 100 points, 17.6-118 to 2.6-18.
