To the Norwood faithful,
Where do I begin – growing up as a Norwood fan, watching Friday nights under lights with my mates under the scoreboard. Seeing the likes of Gallagher, McGuiness and Zorzi lighting up Coopers Stadium, I could barely dream of representing this club let alone leading it. It gives me Goosebumps to think of all the incredible players who have come before me and represented and shaped our great club.
I am extremely honoured to be named Captain and I do not take this responsibility lightly. After Cotts gave me the call, the reality of being bestowed this honour didn’t really sink in for a week or so until I attended the Legends’ Club event. It was there that I was able to talk to past legends and revered captains Aishy, Macca and Kingo. A surreal experience knowing my name will now appear alongside these greats as Captain of your club.
I’ve been fortunate to learn firsthand from some great leaders and phenomenal players over the years and our group today is made of many of them. As a team, we’re looking forward to the challenges that the 2020 season will bring, we know there will be ups and downs but ultimately, we want to bring the Thomas Seymour Hill Trophy back to the Norwood fort.
Leading the club in this transformative year is particularly exciting with the near completion of the Wolf Blass Community Centre, upgraded gym and new locker rooms! It will be great to celebrate the wins with you in the new function room at Coopers Stadium once this season can safely kick off.
Despite the unprecedented situation that we are faced with, I can assure you that, as Captain of this football club, we will do everything within our power to be ready for Round 1.
I know this is a tough time for all, but I encourage you to take up a membership to demonstrate your support of our football club in these very unusual and difficult times.
I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of our Redlegs and I look forward to leading the men out to you during this eventual season.
