Norwood’s junior girls pathway is in good order after a solid display at the SANFL Girls U15 and U17 Intrastate Carnival, which took place in the second week of the school holidays.

The Redlegs U15 and U17 squads, which was made up of girls from the club’s metro zone and regional zone (Eyre Peninsula), showed some great signs in matches against Sturt, Central District and North Adelaide.

Norwood finished the U15 Carnival undefeated from its three matches, while the U17 girls won two out of their three matches.

The Redlegs took on Sturt on Day 1 at Eastern Parade Reserve in Ottoway, and secured two wins in the U15 and U17s against the Double Blues.

Senior listed players Elke Cameron (Hectorville) and Lottie Almond (Tea Tree Gully) were good for Norwood in the U17s match.

For days two and three, Norwood headed out to Elizabeth to take on Central District and North Adelaide.

Taking on the Bulldogs on their home deck on Day 2, Norwood’s U17s claimed a second straight win in a low-scoring 2.6-18 to 1.0-6 win over Centrals.

Elke Cameron and Sharmaine Crosby (Walkerville) kicked goals for Norwood, while Modbury’s Mykayla van Dommele and Kyah Jaffer (Tea Tree Gully) were the Redlegs best players.

The U15s followed suit and claimed a close six-point win over Centrals, 3.7-25 to 3.1-19, with Lillian Thomas (Tea Tree Gully) and Lara Gribben (Payneham Norwood Union) best afield for the Redlegs.
