Ones to Watch – 2020 Breakout Candidates

For several Redlegs, the 2020 season will present an opportunity to break out and become ingrained senior players.

They have done their apprenticeships over the last few years, toiling away at predominantly Reserves football.

Some have had a taste of senior football, the others right on the fringe.

We have compiled a series of candidates who figure to make the 2020 campaign their own.

Nick Pedro

Age: 22

Senior games: 4 (2018) / 2019 Reserves games: 7 (averaging 18.5 disposals)

After making his debut at the beginning of 2018, Nick Pedro has had a rather injury-interrupted couple of years at the Parade.

In four senior appearances two years ago, the 22-year-old averaged just shy of 19 disposals per outing.

The smooth mover played eight games for the Reserves in 2019 and was one of Norwood’s best players in the Grand Final collecting 19 disposals and kicking a crucial goal.

The Eyre Peninsula product will look to establish a spot in Jarrod Cotton’s best 22, as he aims to take his game to another level this season.

Pedro’s best work is done predominantly through the midfield, with his silky skills and decision making some of his best assets.
